Trifels Castle:

Located above the picturesque former Free Imperial City of Annweiler, Trifels Castle was once the center of the empire. In the Hohenstaufen era, the Trifels was the favorite castle of Emperor Frederick I, known as Barbarossa, and at the same time the heart of the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation. Faithful replicas of the imperial regalia can be viewed here. Serenade concerts are held in the “Kaisersaal” during the summer months.
